When it comes to caring for elderly or vulnerable people in the home, it’s absolutely essential to get moving and handling right to prevent the risk of serious injury. Often training materials are confusing, contradictory or incomplete. In this series of moving and handling videos we collaborated with Hampshire County Council’s moving and handling team. We spent three days on site at their training facility to record demonstrations of processes such as assisting people to stand, using hoists and slide sheets. We updated the script as we went to make sure all the details were captured. In the studio we recorded a presenter and added captions to make the step-by-step instructions easy to follow. The full training course of fourteen videos was very well received and has been rolled out to care operatives across the region.
